The GDPCO is dedicated to a non-dogmatic approach. It respects
the individual's special circumstances and treats each person's
condition as unique, while at the same time adhering to the treatment
guidelines set by the International Standards of Care (SOC). Conforming
to the SOC makes it easier for GDPCO members to access other programs
and specialists whose expertise may be needed to help with the transition
process.
It is the professional responsibility of
the GDPCO to keep up with developments in research and clinical
practice. This means attending professional meetings, reviewing
current literature, and keeping track of other gender dysphoria
clinics and centers.
The GDPCO is dedicated to developing and maintaining reciprocity
with centers across the country and around the world so that program
participants have the widest range of choices for completing treatment.
In addition to direct counseling, the GDPCO can make calls or write
letters to family, employers, coworkers, physicians, and attorneys
(upon your request only).
